How to Join
Before applying to join the Marlow Riders, feel free to join a Saturday ride to get a sense of what’s involved. Select a ride in the Speed Group most appropriate to you in terms of speed and distance. If you’re unsure we suggest a ride with the Tigers. This ride can be organised either by asking an existing Marlow Rider if you know one, or by contacting us at info@marlowriders.org.uk.
Joining is a simple four step process as described below. If you need any help throughout the joining process, please contact us at info@marlowriders.org.uk and we will be happy to help.
1. Join British Cycling or Cycling UK
Marlow Riders must hold third-party liability insurance from British Cycling or Cycling UK. This is required by the third-party insurance held by the Marlow Riders to cover club rides.
The online application form will ask you to enter your British Cycling or Cycling UK membership number. If you are joining British Cycling for the first time, you can use the code MEMFRND at checkout to receive a £10 discount on your first year’s membership.
2. Complete the online application form
We manage our memberships via RiderHQ. If you don’t already have a RiderHQ account, you will need to create one. Then sign in and complete the online application form.
The online application form asks some questions about your cycling experience, aspirations, and riding speed. Your answers don’t influence whether you can join the club, they are there to help us support you in getting started at the club and to suggest an initial Speed Group for you to ride with.
You should indicate via the form which speed group you think you will best be comfortable in. However, if you are not sure, you can optionally share a link to one of your recent rides recorded on Strava. To help get the best match you should ideally link to a ride of at least 50km (30 miles) and with some climb, ideally 500m or more. If you don’t already have such a ride recorded, you could ride and record this route.
