What are the golden rules for club rides?
- All ride groups are led by a Ride Leader. Follow Ride Leader instructions.
- Maximum ride group size is 10.
- Rides must be joined at Marlow Sports Club but can be joined en route if previously agreed with the Ride Leader.
- Arrive at the Marlow Sports Club at least 15 minutes before the scheduled ride departure time for the Ride Leader briefing.
- Ride as a group, either two abreast or in single file as directed by the Ride Leader. When riding single file, group of six to ten should split in half with a gap of about 50 metres to allow vehicles to pull in if required.
- Do not overlap wheels with the person in front but follow as closely as comfortable given prevailing road conditions.
- Do not allow gaps to occur in the group. If the pace is too high, speak up.
- Ride considerately. Make sure the rider behind you is not falling behind, and likewise don’t drop the group by pushing off the front. The goal is to ride together, especially on the flats, so ease up at the top and bottom of hills as necessary to keep with the group.
- Use hand signals and/or call-out where necessary to indicate hazards such as holes and uneven surfaces, turns, slowing and stopping.
- Take personal responsibility and be aware of what’s going on around you, especially at junctions, roundabouts and sharp bends. Don’t blindly follow.
How do you join a ride?
Members are given access to Team App (mobile and web app) where they can RSVP to posted rides as well as other events such as social evenings, technical sessions, club trips etc.
